System (from Latin systēma, in turn from Greek σύστημα systēma) is a set of interacting or interdependent entities forming an integrated whole. The concept of an 'integrated whole' can also be stated in terms of a system embodying a set of relationships which are differentiated from relationships of the set to other elements, and from relationships between an element of the set and elements not a part of the relational regime. The scientific research field which is engaged in the study of the general properties of systems include systems theory, cybernetics, dynamical systems and complex systems. They investigate the abstract properties of the matter and organization, searching concepts and principles which are independent of the specific domain, substance, type, or temporal scales of existence. Most systems share common characteristics, including:
The term system may also refer to a set of rules that governs behavior or structure. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What is the line between social systems and political systems? Q. This question came to mind while reading this statement in another Q&A: "Socialism is an economic system. Liberty has to do with the system of government, the political system, not the economic system." How do political and economic systems interact? Can you really separate them? Asked by Joe S - Mon Jul 21 16:44:20 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. In my opinion, they are one in the same. Claiming that liberty only applies to political systems seems to be an intellectually lazy attempt to support "liberty" when it applies to lifestyle choices (gay marriage, abortion) and privacy (anti-Patriot Act etc), yet deny liberty when it applies to taxation, trade, business regulation, etc. By attempting to separate the two, populists can restrict our basic freedom of protection of private property while still claiming to believe in and support liberty. Milton Friedman addressed this topic in 'Capitalism and Freedom', and F.A. Hayek had interesting comments relevant to this topic in 'The Road to Serfdom' - both are must reads. Temptation for my staff to change the "requirements", then change the system to supposedly meet the new requirements. You'd think they would produce an upgraded automatic test system, but this doesn't happen. My best people seem to head for the emergency exit. I am a mere department secretary and have limited power. Q. I have been working as a systems admin supporting windows, citrix, cisco, exchange, goldmine, dockmaster, client machines, etc. I have almost ten years of professional IT experience with a few technology certifications to back it up. How much could I charge reasonably per hour for my services as an independent consultant? What's the going rate (southeast US if that makes a difference)? Thanks. Asked by Masivmunky23 - Thu Jun 18 12:56:54 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I charge up to $350/hr depending on what is being done. Of course, I only see a portion of that. Mostly penetration testing and network/server deployments. Business is good. Just as general sysadmin stuff, you will not have a large amount of available work, and will probably make anywhere from $15-30/hr depending on who does your contracting. If you are solo, you could charge maybe $125/hr, but you will not get enough work to make it worthwhile. From your description, I see very little to qualify you as a serious IT professional. You could not even capitalize the company names you listed.
