From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A fish is any aquatic vertebrate animal that is covered with scales, and equipped with two sets of paired fins and several unpaired fins. Most fish are "cold-blooded", or ectothermic, allowing their body temperatures to vary as ambient temperatures change. Fish are abundant in most bodies of water. They can be found in nearly all aquatic environments, from high mountain streams (e.g., char and gudgeon) to the abyssal and even hadal depths of the deepest oceans (e.g., gulpers and anglerfish). At 31,500 species, fish exhibit greater species diversity than any other class of vertebrates. Food prepared from animals classified as fish is also referred to as fish, and is an important human food source. Commercial and subsistence fishers "hunt" fish in wild fisheries (see fishing) or "farm" them in ponds or in cages in the ocean (see aquaculture). They are also caught by recreational fishers and raised by fishkeepers, and are exhibited in public aquaria. Fish have had a role in culture through the ages, serving as deities, religious symbols, and as the subjects of art, books and movies. From Wikipedia under the

Answered by angelmwilson - Sat Dec 9 11:20:01 2006 What are some fish that I can put with a Betta Fish in a 10 gallon tank?
Q. Hi- i want to house more fish with my Betta Fish. But, I don't know what to get. I want peaceful, unnippy and colorful fish. Thank you in advance. Asked by Chris - Sat Mar 17 08:51:15 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. well colourful is ruled out for a start, keeping other colourful fish with bettas is risky, it can stress out the betta, or in the case of male guppys or platys, bettas aren't the smartest sometimes and mistake these for other bettas and may attack. fish that can be kept with bettas tend to be smaller more muted quiet fish, in that size tank you could have a trio or foursome of Otocinclus (providing the tank is mature and has lots of algae for them to eat). Or a trio of Khuli Loaches may just fit, if you have a nice sandy substrate. Or a foursome or fivesome of Hasbrosus or Pygmaeus corydoras would work. i would avoid any mid-swimming or top-swimming fish, anything that gets in the bettas way while he's patrolling is likely to get chased… [cont.] Answered by catx - Sat Mar 17 08:57:32 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "fish" Fish are aquatic vertebrates that are typically cold blooded, covered with scales, and equipped with two sets of paired fins and several unpaired fins.
