Ontario / ɒ n ˈ t ɛər i . oʊ / is a Province of Canada located in the east-central part of Canada, the largest by population and second largest, after Quebec, in total area, (Nunavut and the Northwest Territories are larger in area, but they are not provinces.) The province's largest metropolitan area and Canada's most populous city, Toronto, is the capital city of Ontario. The national capital of Canada, Ottawa, is located in Ontario as well.

Ontario is bordered by Manitoba on its west, Hudson Bay on its north, and Quebec on its east, and by five states of the United States to its south (from west to east): Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania (Lake Erie) and New York. All but a small portion of Ontario's 2,700 km (1,677 mi) border with the United States follow inland waterways: from the west at Lake of the Woods, eastward along the major rivers and lakes of the Great Lakes/St. Lawrence River drainage system. These are the Rainy River, Lake Superior, the St. Mary's River, Lake Huron, the St. Clair River, Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario, and along the St. Lawrence River from Kingston, Ontario to the Quebec boundary just east of Cornwall, Ontario.

Ontario is sometimes broken into two regions, Northern Ontario and Southern Ontario. The great majority of Ontario's population and its arable land is located in the south, mostly along the northern lakeshores of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. In contrast, the northern three-quarters of Ontario is sparsely populated.

The province is named after Lake Ontario, which is thought to have been derived from Ontarí:io, a Huron (Wyandot) word meaning "great lake", or possibly skanadario which means "beautiful water" in the Iroquoian languages. Ontario contains about 250,000 freshwater lakes.

Does anyone know if the Ontario Government is planning to sell the Ontario Lottery Corporation to private?
Q. Does anyone know if the Ontario Government is planning to sell the Ontario Lottery Corporation to private sectors? There is rumour on the news about Lotterys and Casinos going to private handlers?

A. It is NOT going to happen. That would be like burning your furniture, to heat your house. The worst time to sell a Crown Corporation ( which is what LCBO and OLG are ) is when the economy is in the toilet. A better idea would be to offer limited license outlets, for specialized liquor stores, like "all Scotch " or something similar, to attract high end buyers. McGunity is not so desperate that he will sell off one of the best revenue sources that Ontario has, the LCBO, to private business. The LCBO is the LARGEST single buyer of alcohol in the world. They buy booze by the shipload, and that kind of buying power is hard to match, if you are a two store operation in Timmins, or Kap. Don't hold your breath, this idea comes up every… [cont.]

Q. In Ontario, Canada, how does auto insurance work? Do you need to insure yourself as a driver and your car separately? If anyone can help me with the details of this, that would be great. Thanks!

A. Yes you insure the car and yourself as the driver and then can add drivers and more coverage to the policy if you want to.Basically you must get a standard coverage such as 1 million dollar liability or basic coverage if driving it. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way shop around for quotes but be careful if you've a bad drivers record etc bec checking with too many places can be like lowering your credit rating or status and end up not in your favor. If you want to give me more info such as your age , driving history, number of years driving and last time covered etc I might be able to recommend a company but going through an insurance brokerage can help a lot too.
