President is a title held by many leaders of organizations, companies, trade unions, universities, and countries. Etymologically, a "president" is one who presides, who sits in leadership (from Latin pre- "before" + sedere "to sit"; giving the term praeses). Originally, the term referred to the presiding officer of a ceremony or meeting (i.e., chairman), but today it most commonly refers to an official. Among other things, president today is a common title for the heads of state of most republics, whether popularly elected, chosen by the legislature or by a special electoral college. It is also often adopted by dictators. From Wikipedia under the

I want to know when should I start planning my campaign and speech writing for senior class president and what creative things you think I could do to win this year. It is NEVER too soon! Get a good campaign manager, and start writing and planning who will work with you on your committee. Put lots of humor in your speech, and DON"T make it long. People HATE to sit through BORING speeches. Be genuinely nice to everyone and don't get the big head. That's really obnoxious to most people. Goo luck!
