A writing implement or writing instrument is an object used to produce writing. Most of these items can be also used for other functions such as painting, drawing and technical drawing, but writing instruments generally have the unique requirement to create a smooth, controllable line.

Another widely-used writing implement is the stylus used by blind users in conjunction with the slate for punching out the dots in Braille.

Autonomous writing instruments

These have an inherent functionality in that their useful life corresponds to their length of their physical existence, i.e. they cannot "run out" and persist as useless objects.

Writing songs without playing instruments?
Q. Just out of curiousity... If one were to hum the notes and the melody of a song they had in their head to a pianist and the pianist translated those exact notes into notes on the piano would the hummer get full writing credit or both hummer and pianist?
Asked by Little King :) - Sun Nov 29 06:54:24 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The hummer would get credit, he/she wrote the melody. Pianist would get credit if he played it on a cd etc for performing it but not writing it

what is the best writing instrument to write the japanese language?
Q. what is the best writing instrument to write the japanese language?

A. Assuming you know what you are doing and not in a mood for a novel, a calligraphy pen is a mighty weapon even today. Admired by the japanese as well, could take some time to learn the approximately 5000 signs to be somewhat fully able in japanese, and i guess there are three different (dialects?) kamakura, katakana and kanji to master. Get a ghost writer? If you decide to use a computer and a translator from talk to signs, you had better to be quite fluent in your japanese. Not a easy task, this one.

A. Depends on the genre I guess. Usually there are at least two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, pianist, keyboardist, sometimes a string section, maybe even a few horns like a sax or something.
