Alchemy, originally derived from the Ancient Greek word khemia (Χημία) meaning "art of transmuting metals", later Arabized as al-kimia (الكيمياء), is both a philosophy and an ancient practice focused on the attempt to change base metals into gold, investigating the preparation of the "elixir of longevity", and achieving ultimate wisdom, involving the improvement of the alchemist as well as the making of several substances described as possessing unusual properties. The practical aspect of alchemy generated the basics of modern inorganic chemistry, namely concerning procedures, equipment and the identification and use of many current substances. Alchemy has been practiced in Mesopotamia (comprising much of today's Iraq), Egypt, Persia (today's Iran), India, China, Japan, Korea and in Classical Greece and Rome, in the Post-Islamic Persia, and then in Europe up to the 20th century, in a complex network of schools and philosophical systems spanning at least 2500 years. Asked by sweetochun - Thu Jul 10 12:54:29 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. There are none. Modern alchemists, just like the historical alchemists, are a secretive and very uncommunicative group of people. Any public websites or publicly proclaimed alchemists are usually students of the art and not true practicing masters. Take everything you find with skepticism. Alchemists believed in the transformation of the Base humanistic traits into the Noble being. The path for each might be similar, but is highly individualistic. You would be better off learning Latin and studying the usually long out of print works of Master Alchemists than to trade information with people who may know less about the real arts than you do. Q. (this is from a book by mark booth) In alchemy the precipitation of the morning dew is a symbol of the emanation of the cosmic Mind into the realm of matter. As the Cabala puts it, the Ancient of Days shakes his shaggy head and a dew of divine white light falls. More particularly dew is a symbol of the spiritual forces that work on the conscience during the night. This is why a bad conscience may give us a sleepless night. Here initiates are seen collecting and working on the dew - in other words reaping the benefits upon waking of the spiritual exercises they performed when they went to bed. (Shows a picture of two people ringing water out of a towel with some other stuff around) Ok so I don't get any of this, dew is a reward for a… [cont.] Asked by Mahab - Mon Dec 21 17:52:51 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Morning dew is moisture condensed from the atmosphere when the ambient temperature drops below the air's ability to hold water in solution. Hence the name "dew-point."
